Baseball gloves are made from tanned leather, and they come in several different varieties.  This picture shows a catcher's mitt that lacks individual fingers, unlike other baseball gloves.  The catcher's mitt is worn by the player who crouches behind home plate and catches baseballs thrown by the pitcher and missed by the batter.
